Put away that GPS, folks
Okay, class, let's start out with a couple questions today. Don't blurt out all the answers at once, just raise your hands...hehe
1. Who knows what a McDonald's looks like?
"all of you? Good!"
2. Who has ever been within a football field's distance of a McDonald's and not been able to spot it, even with nothing obstructing the view?
"no one? I wouldn't think so!"
3. Who would be so concerned about finding the exact center of the front door of the nearest Mcdonald's that they would count out the distance from where they are standing down to the centimeters?
"Anyone? Beuller?"
(then a small hand goes up in the back of the room)
"um...teacher, is it the Germans?"
THAT'S RIGHT!!!
Only the Germans would be thoughtful (neurotic, knit-picky, and dry-humored) enough to hold your hand through your final few steps to your local greasy burger joint.
Is this really necessary?
That's right....88.88 meters. (and, oh yeah, there's a giant clock too...in case you're running late)
Maybe it was directions to some secret, alley-only entrance McDonald's located in an obscure building on the other side of the tracks.
Hardly!
This is the main thoroughfare of Frankfurt's shopping district. But look how distacted all the people are! I bet none of them even noticed the TWO-STORY MCDONALD'S on the freakin' CORNER OF THESE TWO MAIN STREETS!!!!!
...that is, until they saw the 88.88m sign. Amazing!
Ah...Europe...silly Germans!
Have a good laugh, shake your heads in disbelief, mock it a little...whatever does it for you.
(I tried all three.)
Miss you all

Maybe they want you to get a workout before you eat there. Does it taste the same? The boys think it is weird to have two stories to a McDonalds. Did you get you Package yet?
Love & Prayers,
Amy

Good one Phil!
I agree that is a little overkill. I'm assuming by your blog that 88.88 meters isn't that far of a distance. You know us Yanks don't know how to use the metric system.
If you could let us know how far that is in FEET AND INCHES it might make more sense!!!!!
Good one though!

Did you ever go to the two-story McDonalds in Seaside?
That's an interesting place, as well!
(But they don't have an 88.88 meter sign.)
(Which is better than a 666 meter sign!)

oh dad! well, all i have to say is, "yuck."
i'm ill over the whole thing and i'll say again that i'm happy to live in a mcdonald's-less country!

Yeah, I could live without MsDonald's too. It's quite the rarity if I go to one.
Tim, a meter is about 3.3 feet, so it wasn't that far of a distance. Close enough that you could see the restaurant from the sign
